The Electrical CAD Drafter produces accurate, manufacturable electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, working closely with Electrical Engineering to support defense and aerospace projects. Responsibilities include creating system diagrams, wirelists, cable marking diagrams, and cable drawings in accordance with Government and Industry standards. This role bridges design and manufacturing, ensuring electrical components integrate properly with mechanical systems and resolving documentation issues during production.
What you'll do
- Work with Electrical Engineering to produce AutoCAD system prints, cable drawings, and top-level electrical assemblies in accordance with Government/Industry standards and customer specifications.
- Generate Excel wirelists from system prints to support manufacturing of electronic assemblies.
- Provide manufacturing support by resolving design and documentation issues during production phases.
- Document electrical drawing changes by creating engineering change documents.
- Support Electrical Engineering in developing presentation materials for customer meetings including requirement reviews, design reviews, and acceptance testing.
- Assist with customer events such as configuration audits and design reviews.
- Collaborate with other ECAD drafters to develop comprehensive and cohesive electrical designs.
- Work with Mechanical CAD groups to ensure physical and packaging integration of electrical components into overall system design.
What you bring
- 3 to 7 years of experience as an Electrical CAD Drafter or equivalent role for mid-level; 7+ years for senior-level position.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD software for electrical design and documentation.
- Knowledge of electrical system standards and terminology.
- Experience with A/C and D/C power distribution, grounding, I/O distribution, networking, KVM, Emergency Power Off, and related systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Knowledge of simulator industry or similar complex electrical systems is a strong plus.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and Government/Industry specifications.
