The Project Engineer serves as the technical authority for assigned defense training device programs, leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through design, integration, and delivery. This role oversees system architecture, hardware/software integration, and engineering release processes while coordinating across manufacturing, test, and acceptance phases. The successful candidate will work closely with Program Managers, functional groups, customers, and subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance, technical integrity, and timely program execution.
What you'll do
- Serves as the program's technical authority, responsible for overall technical design, system architecture, and hardware/software integration.
- Reviews, approves, and provides technical direction on requirements, specifications, designs, test plans, and technical milestones.
- Ensures hardware/software integration issues are identified, tracked, and resolved through appropriate corrective actions.
- Oversees engineering release processes to ensure technical integrity, configuration control, and compliance with program requirements.
- Ensures final delivered products accurately represent the target aircraft platform and meet all contractual and technical requirements.
- Coordinates and directs engineering activities across training device programs within a matrixed organization.
- Identifies technical risks, integration challenges, and resource constraints; recommends solutions such as reallocation of resources or technical approach changes.
- Communicates technical status, schedule impacts, and risk mitigation strategies to Program Management and other stakeholders.
- Provides engineering support during manufacturing, integration, test, and acceptance phases.
- Participates as a presenter or technical reviewer in internal and external program reviews.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex defense or aerospace programs.
- Strong background in systems engineering, technical design, and hardware/software integration.
- Experience with configuration management, requirements traceability, and engineering release processes.
- Proficiency in technical documentation, specifications, and design reviews.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present technical information to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience working in matrixed organizations and collaborating across functional groups.
