We seek a Technical Publications Specialist to research, write, and edit Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and technical documentation for ASI defense products. You will produce operation and maintenance manuals, configuration documentation, and training materials in compliance with Data Item Descriptions, Technical Manual Contract Requirements, and S1000D XML specifications. Working closely with product development teams, you'll ensure accuracy of technical information, manage documentation projects end-to-end, and deliver high-quality deliverables that support program objectives.
What you'll do
- Research and compile technical data including MTBF, EOL/EOS for COTS components and products.
- Write, edit, and manage technical publication deliverables such as Technical Reference Manuals, System Operation & Maintenance Manuals, Instructor Utilization Handbooks, and Training System Support Documents.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, mock-ups, and product samples to accurately convey technology, operating procedures, and production sequences.
- Execute full project lifecycle including planning, data gathering, writing, validation, review coordination, and publication management.
- Collaborate with product development and engineering teams via written and face-to-face communication to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Review published materials and recommend revisions to scope, format, content, and reproduction methods.
- Create, select, and modify photographs, drawings, diagrams, charts, and illustrations to enhance technical clarity.
- Interpret contract requirements and ensure all deliverables comply with contractual obligations and specifications.
What you bring
- Experience writing and editing technical documentation for defense, aerospace, or manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with S1000D XML specifications or similar structured data standards.
- Familiarity with Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCR).
- Strong ability to analyze technical drawings, specifications, and product samples.
- Experience managing technical documentation projects from conception through publication.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with technical illustration tools and graphics software.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and product development teams.
