Position Title: Engineering Technician VI Company: Tri-County Steel LLC (TCS) Location: On-Site at NSWC Crane Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: $44.53/Hour $5.09/Hour for H&W (40 hours max/week) Clearance Level Required: Secret (Interim Secret to start). Job Summary: We are seeking an Engineering Technician VI to support a Department of Defense customer at NSWC Crane supporting design, development, engineering, technical, and configuration activities for Radar, Radio Frequency (RF), and Microwave (MW) systems across surface, air, and maritime domains, in support of Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) systems. The technician independently plans and accomplishes complete projects or studies of broad scope and complexity, or serves as an expert in a narrow aspect of electronic engineering. Assignments typically require considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard methods and procedures may not apply. Essential Functions: • Prepares designs and specifications for complex Radar, RF, and MW equipment, systems, or subsystems • Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques; resolves design problems with contract personnel and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system • Designs and coordinates test setups and experiments to prove or disprove feasibility of preliminary designs, including untried or untested measurement techniques, and improves equipment performance • Plans approach and conducts experiments to develop equipment or systems with conflicting attributes (versatility, size, ease of operation) or unusual combinations of techniques or components • Supports sustainment, repair, refurbishment, and form/fit/function (FFF) replacement design efforts for fielded systems • May perform or support engineering analyses such as failure mode and effect criticality analyses (FMECA), finite element analyses, thermal analyses, and troubleshooting/modeling of RF and MW systems and circuits • Arranges for fabrication of pilot models and determines test procedures and design of special test equipment • May advise equipment users or redesign equipment to resolve unique operational deficiencies • May supervise, train, or be assisted by lower-level technicians • Consults with supervisor or professional engineer on unusual or controversial problems or policy matters; completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives Experience and Skills: • Associate's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics, or Mathematics • 5 years of work-related experience in electrical/electronics systems • Demonstrated ability to independently plan and accomplish projects of broad scope and complexity, or deep expertise in a narrow aspect of electronic engineering • Strong creativity and judgment in devising approaches to design and operational problems • Ability to work in situations where standard engineering methods and procedures may not be applicable Certifications: • None specified at this time. Travel: Minimal. Occasional CONUS/OCONUS travel to field sites, ships, or contractor locations may be required.
