The Electrical Engineer designs electrical systems for simulated training devices, including AC/DC power distribution, I/O distribution, and avionics interface integration using MIL-1553, ARINC-429, Ethernet, and related protocols. You will collaborate with Systems and Mechanical Engineering teams to produce manufacturable, reliable designs that meet Government/Industry standards and customer specifications. This role involves vendor coordination, hardware specification, technical documentation, and customer-facing design reviews and presentations.
What you'll do
- Design AC and DC power distribution systems, grounding systems, and I/O distribution architectures for training simulators.
- Create wire lists, cable drawings, system schematics, and top-level assembly/installation documentation.
- Interface avionics and trainer equipment across MIL-1553, ARINC-429, Ethernet, KVM, emergency power-off, and audio subsystems.
- Read and interpret vehicle schematics and integrate electrical designs with mechanical and systems engineering outputs.
- Mentor electrical engineers at multiple experience levels to ensure cohesive design development.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to specify hardware and validate technology solutions.
- Support customer meetings including requirement reviews, design reviews, and acceptance testing.
- Resolve design and documentation issues during manufacturing and create engineering change orders as needed.
- Present electrical designs and technical materials to internal and external customers.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing power distribution and I/O systems for complex equipment.
- Proficiency reading and interpreting vehicle/avionics schematics.
- Knowledge of MIL-1553, ARINC-429, or similar aerospace/defense communication protocols.
- Experience with CAD tools for electrical design and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical and systems teams.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers is preferred.
- Familiarity with Government/Industry standards (MIL-STD, DO-254, or equivalent) is a plus.
